Associate Professor Haneda and his colleagues have developed a table-top size electron diffraction system that can observe structural changes occurring in less than one trillionth of a second (100 femtosecond) upon photoexcitation.

The newly developed device is expected to contribute to the development of ultrafast and highly efficient materials for various optical devices such as optical memory and optical energy conversion in the future.
